Broadcasting in Anthro!

Happy Sale Tuesday, everyone! I am soooo excited that three items (really four, but I'm going to not get all of them) from my wishlist are now on sale! The Dagmar Dress was number one, but I am also thrilled that the Lost Time Skirt and the Flight of Fancy Top are now on sale! Holy Cuteness! Holy Wallet Hell!

My good friend Dereck and I started a really silly internet radio talk show sort of in the spirit of a hot talk show like The Don and Mike Show, The Ron and Fez Show and The Sports Junkies. I have always been a fan of hot talk radio and when I was a little kid, I would spend hours and hours recording into my Fisher Price brown tape recorder with my own homemade folly and everything. My friend and I have always wanted to host our own silly show, so we are now two weeks into it. Check it out, if you're interested...we are still working out the kinks!

Anthro: Red Delicious Blouse, Anthro Split Decision Cardigan, Gap Kids Jeans, Natrual Soul Shoes
Anyway, of course I wear Anthro to broadcast! It's become Autumn seemingly overnight here in Boston and it's become lovely during the day and cool at night. I was excited to have the opportunity to wear some of my new cardis that I scored during the Labor Day Sale! The Red Delicious blouse (We Love Vera) was a VERY lucky sale find. I was totally smitten by it when I saw it and was so lucky to find it all by its lonesome, on the sale rack in my size! I'm also in love with the Split Decision Cardi! It's sooooooo comfy and cozy and the ruffles on one side are just adorable. I'm still a little freaked out that I am now buying my jeans at Gap Kids, but I suppose it's good because, I finally have found jeans that fit properly and they certainly are very cheap.

That's all I've got for now! Hope you ladies are having a great sale day!

Happy Friday & OOTD

Being a performing artist, I also have many friends who do the same. I was fortunate enough to be free tonight to see my good friend Pat who I went to college with. He is part of the comedy duo Booth and Pat and they were in Boston for one night as part as Boston Improv Festival! They were HILARIOUS and I was so happy to get to see the show! They are based in NYC, so if you ever get a chance to see them, do it!!! Afterward, we went out for drinks and foods and...Of course, I was wearing Anthro!

Anthro: Soft Scalloped Cardi in Moss
Anthro: Clusters of Light Tank
Gap (Kids) Jeans
Jeffery Campbell peeptoe wedges

I felt great in this outfit! The Clusters of Light Tank is really special, I'm surprised only one size (mine!) is sold out online since it went on sale. Maybe it will get a second cut. It is very delicate, but it's just so beautiful on! It looks great dressed up or dressed down with jeans. I'm sold! Goodnight everyone!

OOTD: Pigment & Canvas

I was so happy to find this dress at its second cut price in a size 0 (which is actually a bit snug in the bodice today. Maybe I ate too much at lunch). Going to tea with a friend!

I love the this dress. The pattern by Natalie Lete is so vibrant and the fit is really spot on! I also own another Natalie Lete piece, the Flight Round the Garden Skirt and I love it just as much. This dress was such a lucky find! It's the perfect fitted summer dress!

Reviewed: Four Dresses and a Cardigan

Good evening, readers! I have been SO busy these last few days, I've hardly had time to blog. Whilst everyone was relaxing during Labor Day weekend and eating BBQ, I was working my little size 0 tail off! Business was BOOMING in my store this Labor Day and our empty product shelves show it! I had no time to wear any Anthro (sad face), but I did have time to go and try on a few of my favorite things...dresses.

I don't know why I'm so obsessed with dresses. It could be the whole opera singer/romantic thing or the fact that I have to wear a tee shirt, jeans and sneakers to work everyday, but I love a cute dress! Here's some I tried on at Anthro a few days ago :)

Violet Gloaming Dress: $268 Moulinette Soeurs

This dress sure is pretty. So were all of the Moulinette Soeurs dresses I tried on. You know what all those dresses had in common? They were ALL too big for me. I tried this on, hoping to be surprised. I wasn't. This was huge on me...especially in the armhole region. Petite girls, resist the urge to try this on, because it will make you cry. It's so pretty. It really is. But, it's really just awkwardly cut in my opinion. The bodice is not fitted well. I think the sash and the sleeves are really cute, but that is all. For $268? FAIL.

Along with Anthropologie, I also happen to have a passion for tea. I love black tea, green tea, white tea, rooibos tea and honeybush and herbal. I have an entire drawer in my kitchen (a big one!) FULL of loose teas and tea gear. You can imagine my excitement when this dress was released!

I was underwhelmed by it on my person. Something about the gray isn't flattering with my skintone. If the base color were not this gray, I would probably feel differently. The teacups are so cute and it is a soft silk and doesn't feel cheap or anything. The sash that comes with the dress is adorable! The print is really whimsical and really something I would go for in a heartbeat. I'd consider it if it went on sale...like...really, really on sale. It's just not my cup of tea though at the end of the day (you KNEW that was coming).

Love Letter Sweater: $188 Laureate Lane

Now for a sweater. The love letter cardi is just...breathtaking. So is the price. I, however am deeply in love with it. It's comfy and has neat hook and eye closures which give it a clean look when you close it. The bead work on it is spectacular. It's just a little gem of a sweater. I'd be traumatized if the beadwork started coming off, which is my only concern. This would have to go on sale or I'd have to win the lottery to buy it, but it's totally on my wishlist.

You know what's happening next payday? This dress is coming home with mama. It's so flattering and comfortable. The navy blue corduroy is soft and feels warm without feeling bulky. Pair with a pair of boots, a belt and an undershirt and you've got yourself a cool-weather staple. I LOVE this dress!

Waffle Weave Dress: $118 Ric Rac

At 98 lbs, I didn't think there was a dress in the world that could make me look fat; Until I tried on this dress. Really? What is going on here? It's really comfortable and I like the stretchy waffle material (kind of a boring name, by the way. "Waffle Weave Dress"? Snoozefest.) and the length is nice, but...this dress adds 10 lbs to my frame somehow. It's like an Anthro Fatsuit, plus it's a rather drab color. Bleh. Pass.

*Update 11/29 - I've had a total change of heart regarding this little dress. It's grown on me and I actually just ordered one (on a popback, yay!), so we'll see how I feel about it when it gets here. I'm so fickle.

So there you have it! I have the day off tomorrow so hopefully, I'll get to post at OOTD! Hope you all are having a great Wednesday!

Reviewed: Some Autumn Dresses

Happy Weekend, Ladies! I'll bet a lot of you are excited about this Holiday weekend! I am excited too! I work retail and I'm excited about the flood of sales we are anticipating this weekend...bring it! It's weekend and for me, that means weekend Super Smash Bros Brawl, Food and Drinks. My husband, my good friend and me have this dumb tournament going for like 5 years. Super Smash Bros Brawl is a fighting game for the Nintendo Wii. It features all of Nintendo's Trademark characters such as Mario, Kirby, Zelda...etc. The rules are simple...damage your opponent and knock them off the screen for a KO. The more you pummel your opponent, the lighter they become and easier for them to fly off the screen. I happen to be a Pikachu player. Why? Cause he's adorable and super annoying when he kicks people's asses.

Anyway...we get together and play 2 minute rounds. Whoever gets to 100 KO's first (within 2, like tennis) wins the night and doesn't get a punishment. Punishment for coming in 2nd is that you make the cocktails during the next game. Punishment for coming in 3rd is that you order (and possibly) pick up the food at the next game. The person with the most KO's at the Fall/Spring Equinox, or Summer/Winter Solstice wins the season. Kind of crazy...but it's what we do once a week. So, now you know that not only am I am Anthro Fanatic, I'm also a NERD.

Anyway, I made my way over to the one store I didn't visit yesterday to do some reviews. Of course, I had to look to see what was going on in the sale room and look what I found:

By the way something, I am blatantly stealing copying Cat from Anthrosdottir's photo technique because I am sick of holding the camera. I don't think I did as good of a job as she usually does, but you get the picture (no pun intended). Anyway...behold! The elusive Two-Wheeler Shirtdress (on sale $59.99)!!!!!!! They had at least 5 or 6 at the Natick, MA store this morning. There was a woman in line behind me with one in her hot little hands too. This was the only 0...of course I nabbed it. Shopping Moratorium FAIL.

In the meantime, I did try on some dresses!

Cascading Bow Dress $118
Moulinette Soeurs

As you can tell by the look on my face, I don't really think this dress is working for me. I am officially too petite for Moulinette Soeurs dresses because this is the 3rd one I've tried on that's too big. I also don't particularly like this dress for myself because the shape is not flattering, but the bows are cute. The material is substantial and good quality. It's a cute dress, just not for a little teeny person like me who buys their jeans at Gap Kids.

Turbine Dress $118 Deletta

So, obviously, I have not mastered the art of posing for these photos and looking like I don't want to commit a homicide. This dress is very basic and not quirky enough for me. It is a super soft jersey and the front is nice. The dress is very basic and cute. It fits TTS and the pockets are nice, although I question pockets on a jersey dress because you can see everything you put inside.

Ruffled Plaid Dress $158 Floreat

Here was a dress I could handle! I LOVE THIS. It's so pretty in person and there are several reviews on the website that say that it is itchy, but I didn't find that it was itchy at all. The size 0 fit well, and I think it's a really sophisticated little frock. The belt is cute, but not very special. You may want to put on a nicer belt. This is definitely on my wishlist for sure!

That's all I've got for you! Wish me luck in the Smash Tournament tonight!

OOTD, Sale madness & Why it's bad to live near so many stores

Good evening, everyone! You know what psycho got up at 3am to check the status of the Anthro Sale?!

Me.

AND...I was pleased/horrified that quite a few items from my wishlist were suddenly on sale (except for the damn High Tea Blouse...the only Floreat blouse that fits me). Determined to grab my prizes in person, I went back to bed. I live within 2o miles of 5 stores, so there was a good chance I could get what I wanted. Yeah, that's right...5 stores. FIVE.

Because I had the day off, I could actually wear a little Anthro on my multi-store sale mission! Normally, I wear a work uniform. It's 94 degrees today, so a stay-cool outfit was necessary.

Top: Anthro - Raccoon Rumpus Blouse $49 (sold-out online, still kicking around in stores)
Shorts: Anthro - Black Forrest Trail Shorts $29.99 (also sold out online, but I have seen a pair or two in the sale room)
Wedges: Payless

I live in Boston, but have not been to the Burlington Anthropologie. So, I thought this was the perfect morning to check it out. I find that suburban stores always have some secret treasures kicking around in the sale room. I went to the Dedham store a couple of weeks ago and scored my Botanical Stroll dress! I have one unfortunate observation about both the Dedham and Burlington stores which I will share in a few. First off, when I arrived at the Burlington Store, it was about 30 minutes after they had opened. I was greeted at the door by a salesperson who said hello, but nothing more. There were a few intense ladies in the sale room (you know the kind...aggressively sorting through the racks. They look like they will cut you.) and a few other folks there. I was surprised to discover that NOTHING had been markdown and all of the newest sale items were still floating around the store. I did see ONE Two-Wheeler Shirtdress in a size 6 there. It made me feel weird. No one talked to me. No one acknowledged me. Nubbins. I walked around for at least 10 minutes with a dress in my hand. Shame.

Here's my deal...I don't get this as much in the Boston store (which I love!) and the Chestnut Hill store (but SOMETIMES I do). What's with the attitude the SA's are sporting?? Maybe I'm biased because I work in a retail environment where everyone is expected to be extremely friendly, well-versed and helpful, but would it be totally insane to have your sales staff be a tiny bit more friendly? Even at the register, I feel like I'm bothering people. "Hi, I'd like to give you lots of my hard-earned money for these pretty things. The money for the things goes to the company that signs your paychecks. How 'bout a smile, sweetie?" *steps off soapbox*

Needless to say, I got completely turned off and headed toward my favorite store in Chestnut Hill. It's a big store and they had already marked down everything and moved it to the sale area. Fabulous! I grabbed a Soft Scallops Cardi (number 1 on my wishlist) and Split Decision Cardigan which, I have to say did NOTHING for me on the website or on reviews. But when I saw it in person, I was pleasantly surprised at how adorable and cozy it looked! I was looking for a neutral-color cardi and this was it! I found it to be very comfy and cozy and perfect, so for $39.99, I snapped it up. I also grabbed a lilac version of the Tiny Windows Dress. I already own the pink and I found the lilac to be equally flattering. I'm such a sucker, but how could I pass at $29.99!?

I walked out. Happy.

Stupidly, I got on the T and somehow, bizarrely ended up on Boylston Street in Back Bay. Oh look! An Anthropologie! Lets's see what's going on in there!

I did and I walked out with three more items: A Chopsticks Cardigan ($39.99 second cut price)

...A Dreamy Drape Dress (aka: Speckled Ink Dress)($79.99) and a Clusters of Light Tank ($59.99). This tank has been on my radar for a while and I was pleasantly surprised (and again also horrified) to see it on the sale rack. It's just gorgeous...I'm afraid to touch it, but it's beautiful and I can't wait to wear it...very...carefully. This is not the kind of top you can let your husband try and take off of you after date night. No...you tell him to back off from the Tabitha Frock.

I'm really on the fence about the Chopsticks Cardigan. It's really cute...but I'm a legit musician and I don't know if it's too "theme-y" or kitchy for me to be sporting. People pay me to sing and I don't know if this is too over-the-top. I couldn't resist at $40...it may go back. We'll see.

So there you have it. I spent more than my allotted Anthro sale savings and I feel kinda high guilty. I may have to enforce a month-long 2 week-long moratorium on Shopping. But fear not! I will still review pretty fall frocks for those keeping score at home! What's everyone blowing their cash on today?

Reviewed: Stable Skirt, Spitalfields Skirt, Sincerely Snug Top, Melded Gauze Skirt & more...

Happy Wednesday! For those of you who have 5-day a week jobs, this is hump day for you! I don't have that privilege. The approaching weekend is very busy for me at my jobs, but hey, at least I get a weekday off...a sale Thursday at that! Speaking of Thursday sale...I am trembling with anticipation! I can't wait to see the speculation post at Effortless Anthropologie and the sale sightings over at Anthroholic. It's always a fun party trying to guess what will be marked down and to see what everyone is hoping for! I'm dying for the High Tea Blouse, the Dagmar Shirtdress, the Lost Time Skirt, and the Dreamy Drape Dress. A girl can dream.

Anyway, yesterday, I went to lunch and shopping with a good friend of mine in Back Bay. We had a gorgeous lunch at Stephanie's on Newbury (Crab BLT out of this world!) and we went to Anthro and then to Copley Square Mall. In the meantime...I have some reviews for you! She insisted I try on jeans at Gap and I left with two pairs of jeans...from Gap KIDS.

Yes, I said Gap KIDS. A size 14 child's bootcut jean fit PERFECTLY. No need to hem, nothing. The best part of it all was the jeans were on sale for $15 a piece. Petite girl FTW. Okay...on to the Anthro reviews!

Stable Skirt $98 Cartonnier
I apologize for the blurry photo. I had the macro setting on and didn't realize it! I love horses...hence...I wanted to love this skirt. It seemed a tad over the top to me when I first saw it a few weeks ago. I mean, it is just a crazy skirt with a horse scene on it. When I put it on, I was surprised about how crazy it *didn't* look. It was actually pretty cute and well-fitting. The skirt is a tad too long for petite girls, but maybe with boots it wouldn't be too bad. I tried it on with the Insouciant Tank as it was styled at the store but without a belt. It's pretty cool! I'm going to wait for the sale.

Sincerely Snug Top $58 Pure and Good and Spitalfields Skirt $78 London's East End
I tried on this little outfit because I was at Anthro with a girlfriend and she insisted. She loved the Spitalfields Skirt and I love how this whole outfit turned out! The skirt is short, but that's good for a short girl, like me! And the Sincerely Snug Top was a pleasant surprise. It's very well-fitted (perhaps even a little tight), but it seems like it would keep you very warm on chilly days. The rust color was my favorite of the three and the yellow of the skirt was more like a warm mustard. With brown boots, this would be a killer outfit. Both of these pieces are excellent and may even snap them up at full price!

Melded Gauze Skirt $128 Edme & Esyllte

Scrunched:

After 1 minute of attempted un-scrunchingCool! Sculpture Skirt! This is an interesting concept skirt. There are little wires all along with seams of the skirt so that you can "scrunch" up the skirt and make it wrinkly and ruffly or smooth. I like the idea of a customizable piece of clothing. The look on my face says it all. However, I just found it to be a little bit of a mess and not for the impatient. I am a very artistic person and I love to be creative, but I think I would have little motivation to meld and shape this how I wanted it. I attempted to unwrinkle it and it was difficult. I think you would have to spend a lot of time coaxing it. I think it's REALLY cool, it's just not my thing. Plus, it makes me look Lilliputian.

Mullany Dress $268 Eva Franco
I hate when the product shot doesn't look like what the dress actually looks like. The product shot on this dress makes it look like it's very poufy. Maybe if it fit, it would pouf. Needless to say, I am sized out of this dress because I am absolutely swimming in it. It's an adorable dress that is well-made...it doesn't fit me...plus, it costs like a million dollars for some reason. Pass.
Country Quarters Tank $78 Weston Wear

Soooooofffffffftttttt.

Really, this tank is super soft and it's been on my wishlist for a while but I've never actually tried it on. It fits TTS and is a really comfortable, well-made, nice looking top. It falls on me exactly the way it does on the product shot. Here's hoping it goes on sale tomorrow!
