Where I've been hiding...

Dear readers...thanks for hanging in there while I've been not blogging. I have not forgotten about you! I have been sort of keeping up with the community but I've mainly been busy with rehearsals. I've been very heavily involved in an opera that was put on by Harvard Early Music Society. I had been cast as a fury in Cavalli's La Calisto. It's a nice opera, but being a baroque opera, it also had dance. I have a dance background, so I decided that it would be totally fun and interesting to learn some baroque dance steps! Well, I'll tell you what, it's been very challenging! I didn't think I would ever get all the steps right, but by the end of the run,  I danced some nearly perfect dances!

I had about 4 costume changes, which was insane to me. I was a dancing Nymph, a dancing Bear (yes...a bear), a singing Fury and a singing Celestial Body. Yeah...a smorgasbord of good silly times! I managed to sneak my Anthro High Prairie Belt into my Nymph Costume :)

Rehearsals were exhausting and my friend and fellow soprano (and fellow Anthro Addict) ended up on the Clover Food Lab Blog because we were so obsessed with their Rosemary Fries (how can you not be obsessed!? Hello! Rosemary Fries!!!!). When you walk in and order them, they scream; "FRY DOWN!!!", so we officially started referring to them as "Fry Down" from that point on. As you can see...I'm sporting my Blooming Lattice Cardigan :)

Between my crazy rehearsal schedule and my start up project (more news later!), there has been no time (or funds) for Anthro. I have purposely not gone onto the website to keep from lusting at what I can't have, but I think I should be able to afford some new pretties soon! Until then, I'll start posting outfits again! Glad to be back and thanks again for hanging in there!

Boston Early Music Festival, A Pair of Outfits and a Pair of Reviews

Good morning, ladies! Did everyone take advantage of the last days of the 25% off of sale merch at Anthro this weekend? I completely missed out. I ended up actually returning the Spectrum of the Garden Mini. I could NOT make it work in real life. My best friend and my husband both vetoed it, so I took it back. Some lucky lady can grab it now! I think I was too petite for it. Instead of taking a refund, I just took a credit, knowing I would actually spend it anyway.

It's Boston Early Music Festival right now, so all of my friends are really busy (I am sitting out this year due to my surgery, plus, I'll be performing at Connecticut Early Music Festival, so I'm not completely missing out on the fun!). I am attending a TON of concerts this week, so I'll be posting more outfits than usual :)

Here's what I wore to my composer friend's Faculty Recital this weekend. Sometimes, when I'm just hanging out with my friends, I don't always remember how talented they are. This man writes SUCH incredible, beautiful music! I'm so lucky to be good friends with such a great musician.

Dress: Anthropologie Pigment and Canvas Dress (2010) Cardi: Anthropologie Jemima's Shrunken Cardi (2008)

I was totally worried about the cherries on the cardi adding too much action to the whole outfit and I think I would have made a different choice about the cardi, but it's past! Again, you see a kitty in the picture. I can't seem to take a photo without them in the background. They are very social and they LOVE to just hang out.

Yesterday, I went to see a French Baroque Opera and then I stopped by Anthropologie to see what was going on. By golly, they had cleaned out their basement! I saw TONS of older items there (I'm super sad I didn't make it there during the weekend!). And I managed to snag a Terrace House Jacket in grey for $9.95!!! CRAZY! I took two dresses I've been lusting after into the dressing room:

Anthro: Blooming Lattice Cardigan (2010), Fantastic Field Skirt (2011)

I can't believe I had to wear tights and boots in June. Ugh. Anyway, I had been drooling over the Dutch Yellow Shift (Maeve, $138) and the Artist's Rendering Dress (Odille, $188).

Disappointing. The fabric is a silk-cotton blend which is AMAZING. It feels soft and is very nice to the touch. Maybe the petite size would be better, but I could not find love with this dress. The colors wash me out, the whole thing is just wrong. Ah, well.

UM...I'm in love. This is soooooo comfy! I was worried the print would overwhelm me, but it's beautifully subtle. It makes up for the ill-fitting Violet Gloaming Dress of last year. I am a little bit sad about the lack of the black sash that was in the original pictures of the dress (what happened, Anthro?), but it's just SOOOOOO beautiful on. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt to get on (it's an over-the-head kind of thing), but once it was on, I was drooling. I may have to splurge full-price on it, as I'd like to try the petite version. Fit is TTS. GORGEOUS. Price point is a little high, but I may splurge.

Busted!

I was stone-cold BUSTED breaking my month-long shopping ban last week. I ran into a reader at Anthro and I was standing in the checkout line with my arm full of skirts! LOL, I had an Anthro Shopping Relapse!

So...I guess I'm a weak soul and didn't last very long. And there's ZIPPY CHANCE I'm missing any opportunities from the big Tag Sale that will start tomorrow. So...May Shopping Ban? FAIL.

It's okay though, there was actually a month earlier in the year that I didn't shop, so maybe I still win? (Excuses, excuses). Anyway, I might as well share what I picked up (all different blue themes it appears):

...and an Inkwell Skirt...which happens to be one of my new faves. I LOVE the poofiness of it! It's so adorable!

Feeling goofy after the Radio Show Broadcast. The Inkwell Skirt was an excuse to dust off the ole' Blooming Lattice Cardi, which I sometimes find a little too "cute" to wear for real. The navy accents in the skirt went perfectly with the cardi. I certainly felt dressed up, but totally comfortable. I didn't want to wear tights because it's MAY, alas...Boston is really cold and gloomy right now and the forecast doesn't look good either. I guess I will keep the faith, until the sun comes out again.

Tag Sale starts tomorrow...OH, the anticipation!!!!!

Worst Luck Ever.

Well readers, it's not a happy post. I had great plans for today. I was going to go to work from 5am-9am and then two of my good friends and I were going to go shopping (including Anthro) I was on my way to work this morning and I was just chillin' at a red light waiting for the light to change at 4:47am or so. Then BAM!!! A car comes between me and the other car waiting at the light, sideswipes me and presumably the other car and PWNS my driver's side mirror and scrapes up the drivers side. I was completely terrified and also PISSED.

If you are a reader of my blog, you know that I was involved in another accident a few months ago, in which someone hit me in a rotary and I suffered a minor back injury for which I was in Physical Therapy. I am still in some pain, but I was just released from PT (to do the exercises on my own at home) on the 23rd of November and I also received my car back that VERY SAME DAY.

AND NOW THIS.

I don't think I'm hurt, but I am still recovering from my last impact. Luckily, a sideswipe isn't as powerful an impact as a direct hit to the side panel, I totally tensed up when it happened. I'm hoping, this doesn't further my yet-to-be-healed back injury and that I will be fine soon. I will be needing a rental as I cannot drive without a driver's side mirror. I would need to be changing lanes eventually. I was totally going to wear my Blooming Lattice Cardigan and High Tea Blouse to the mall...so here it is...in the car. My poor car...

So...that was going to be the OOTD. Thanks for listening to my whining. I'm going to buy some lottery tickets, because my luck should be turning around soon. This is just too messed up.

OOTD: Weaving some Blooming Lattice

Good morning ladies! It's November! Getting dressed for my church gig is always fun! I didn't do this on purpose, but these are the two pieces my husband bought for me at Anthro when we went shopping on our anniversary this summer!

Anthropologie: Blooming Lattice Cardigan, Weave-the-Ring Skirt, High Prairie Belt

I've got to hide these gray tights from myself, because I keep putting them on, taking a picture and then deciding they don't go well. I should have spent the extra minute searching for my navy pair, but oh well. Anyway, I felt cute in this and the ladies at the church loved it :) One time, I wore dress pants and I got asked to wear nothing but skirts and dresses instead. Well...go out shopping? NO PROBLEM.

Anyway, it's Monday and that means there could possibly markdowns at Anthro tomorrow! Anyone hoping for any pieces in particular? I am personally hoping for second cuts on some pieces, especially on the 1952 Skirt and the Shawl Collar Sweatercoat (I would like one in gold!). Happy Monday ladies!
