1952 Skirt

I have been waiting patiently for this skirt to go on sale ever since I tried it on in August. When it did a few weeks ago, I was overjoyed! When I noticed it wasn't selling out very fast, I waited for it to get a second price cut. Lo and behold! It got a second cut on Wednesday! I only discovered it while perusing the sale room and noticing the price was $29.95! I win! I grabbed a size zero and danced all the way home!

Now I have no idea how to wear it. Does this ever happen to you?! I love this piece (and I know a lot of people didn't like it and found it unflattering), and I think it's beautiful. I have no idea how to style it at all! I'm thinking belted, long cardigan? Any ideas????!

  1. Good job holding out for such a great price on a piece you love! I haven't seen the skirt IRL, but from your pictures it looks fairly voluminous, so I would keep the top sleek- something fitted and tuck-able. I actually like the product shot styling that you have shown...

  2. WOW what a great price! Def makes me want to go look for it. I've never tried it on, but I love full skirts. I agree with ChristinainSeattle that keeping it fitted on top would probably help balance the volume on bottom. I'm definitely thinking Betty Draper/Mad Men esque outfits. Even a fitted cardi over it would be darling. You could also dress it up for the holidays with sort of fitted gold top. I feel like there's a whole range you could hve fun playing with!

  3. I love the print of the skirt, but I think it's too long and volumnious for my 5'2" frame.

  4. Christina - it's fairly huge, yeah. I think you're totally right!

Lori - I need to look for some new cardis! I need a totally neutral one that will work with this. Of course...I wish that darn Flower Vendor Top would go on sale. *sigh*

Diem - it's pretty voluminous, but I think it might work if you like it.
